Eureka Loyalty Scheme

This tells you about eureka, our loyalty scheme. With eureka, every time you buy something from Education Umbrella, you can earn extra buying power for your school (or a school of your choice) to spend on more great educational resources.Eureka is our loyalty scheme which rewards centralised and community school purchasing with increased buying power for educational resources. Eureka is free to join and easy to use.

How does eureka work?

When you buy educational resources from us, whether you are a school customer or an indivudual, we will reward your purchase with eureka points. Typically you will receive 1 point for every pound spent, but this may vary.

If you are an institutional purchaser (purchasing on behalf of a school and on a school account), any eureka points gained are automatically added to your school's total.

If you are a private customer (an individual buying on a private account by credit or debit card), you may donate the points you gain to any school of your choosing. You may do this as part of the checkout process. Eureka points can be gained by anybody, but can only be collected by schools, colleges or other educational institutions. Private customers may not keep their own eureka points. If you are a private customer, you may skip the process of donating eureka points to a school of your choosing, but those points are then lost and you forfeit any rights to them.

We will convert a school's eureka points into credits so it can buy more great books, TECbooks or digital resources through Education Umbrella. The more resources bought by your school, or donated to it, the greater the points earned and the bigger the reward.

When do schools receive their eureka points?

At the end of each eureka period (roughly coinciding with a term) your school's eureka administrator (usually a finance officer) will receive a statement showing how much the school has spent, how many private customers have donated points, and the total number of eureka points that have been earned as a result. We will convert all your Eureka points into a credit attached to your account, which your school may use whenever it likes.

It may be that there is a small threshold of points donated at which point Education Umbrella will first contact a school. Below this threshold, Education Umbrella will not take any action to alert the school to it's eureka point total. This threshold will not exceed 2000 points.

How many eureka points will my purchase earn?

Each £1 spent will earn 1 eureka point. From time to time Education Umbrella will run promotions that will allow you to earn more eureka points for each £1 spent.

How much is a eureka point worth?

One eureka point is worth 1 penny.

When can I use my eureka points?

If you are an institional purchaser, you may use eureka points to pay (in full or in part) any invoices which you receive after the start of a new eureka period. Eureka points may not be used to pay invoices from a previous eureka period. Private customers may not collect or spend eureka points.

Eureka periods

Period one: 1st January - 30th April
Period two: 1st May - 31st August
Period three: 1st September - 31st December

Education Umbrella reserves the right to remove any discount or loyalty bonus listed on an invoice if payment is not received within the stated payment terms.

The eureka scheme and the ability to collect points is currently only available to educational institutions in the UK.
