Description

'A plague o' both your houses! I am sped.'

This lesson plan bundle contains four lesson plans that cover the five scenes of act three.

These plans can be used on their own, but also make an excellent accompaniment to our Education Umbrella Press edition of Romeo and Juliet, which includes the unabridged play, scene-by-scene summary and analysis, character profiles, vocabulary flashcards, exam help and more.

These lesson plans are part of a scheme of work that imagines 16 lessons spread over four weeks.

Act three features the deadly clash between Mercutio and Tybalt, and the former's famous curse, 'A plague o' both your houses!' As we explain in our lesson plan, Shakespeare rarely mentioned the plague in his work, despite the fact, or perhaps because, it was an ever-present danger in Elizabethan England.
