Description

'Oh, to be in England
Now that April's there'

Written in Italy during his elopement with Elizabeth Barrett Browning, 'Home Thoughts from Abroad' is Robert Browning's stirring reflection on the natural beauty of England in early spring.

Our lesson plan asks students to consider things they would miss if they left England, particularly if they were in a much different climate. The lesson ends with a creative writing task based on the opening of Browning's poem.
