    Year 2 Uses of everyday materials: Using materials

    In this lesson, pupils develop their understanding of materials. They focus on how the properties of materials can make them suitable or unsuitable for various purposes. Pupils experiment with different materials and try to construct items with inappropriate materials, identifying where difficulties arise.

    Pupils will learn:

    • Identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials.
    • Find out how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed.
