Year 4 Sound: How we hear things

    Gramophone.jpg

In this lesson for the new KS2 science curriculum, pupils learn how sound is made and how it travels. Pupils complete a worksheet featuring instruments from around the world and take part in noisy experiments, in which they may test their skills as sound engineers. This lesson plan may be followed by Sound: Properties of sound.

    Pupils will learn:

    • Sound is made by something vibrating
    • Sound travels from a source to our ears through a medium such as air
    • The sound source will seem quieter if it is a long distance away
