    Year 3 Rocks: Different Soils

    In this lesson, pupils look at soil in their local environment, learn about the composition of soil, the importance of soil in plant growth and become soil detectives; examining different types of mystery soil (clay, chalky, sandy and peaty). This lesson uses material from the new KS2 science curriculum and may be preceded by Rocks: Rocks and Fossils.

    Pupils will learn:

    • Soils are made from rocks and organic matter.
