    Year 1 Plants: Describing Plants

    The new KS1-2 science curriculum requires pupils to study plants in years 1-3. In this first lesson, pupils learn to name some common species and the major parts of plants, using plants in the local environment to help their learning. This lesson may be followed by Plants: Deciduous and Evergreen Trees.

    Pupils will learn:

    • To identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants
    • To identify and describe the basic structure of a variety of common plants
