    Year 5 Living things and their habitats: Reproduction

    The new KS2 science curriculum requires for pupils to be introduced to plant reproduction Year 3 and animal reproduction in Year 5. In this lesson, pupils look at sexual and asexual reproduction in plants and animals, as well as the different ways fertilisation can occur. This lesson is a factual introduction to sexual reproduction in biology and is not useful for teaching pupils about human sexual relationships. This lesson may be preceded by Living things and their habitats: Life cycles.

    Pupils will learn:

    • How to describe the life process of reproduction in some plants and animals.
