    Year 5 Forces: Falling

    Zero gravity

Pupils return to forces in Year 5. Expanding beyond pushes and pulls, pupils learn about gravity and other forces. In this lesson, pupils learn about the Earth's and Moon's gravitational force. Pupils will identify forces in a fairy tale and engage in a whole-class activity to observe the acceleration of a falling tennis ball. This lesson may be followed by Forces: Resistance and Forces: Building machines.

    Pupils will learn:

    • The effect of general forces on motion
    • How the gravitational force acts between Earth and a falling object
