    Year 1 Everyday materials: The stuff that things are made of

    The new KS1-2 curriculum requires for pupils to begin studying basic materials science in Year 1. In this lesson, pupils are introduced to a selection of materials, go on a hunt around the school and make models. This lesson may be followed by Everyday materials: What are materials used for?

    Pupils will learn:

    • To distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made.
    • To identify and name a variety of everyday materials.
