Year 4 Animals, including humans: The Digestive System

    Digestive system

Due to changes in the KS2 science curriculum, pupils will be expected to leave primary school with a basic knowledge of the systems of the human body. In this terminology-heavy lesson, pupils work through the different parts of the digestive system and their functions. They then try writing a short story about the journey of a slice of cheesecake through the digestive system. This lesson may be followed by Animals, including humans: How we use our teeth and Animals, including human: Food Chains.

    Pupils will learn:

    • The simple functions of the basic parts of the digestive system in humans
