  • All specifications must ensure that there is an appropriate balance between mathematicl calculations and written explanations.
  • All physics specifications must rquire knowledge and understanding of: the use of SI units and their prefixes, Newton's laws of motion, the estimation of physical quantities, the limitation sof physical measurements.
  • Vectors and scalars: the destinction between vectors and scalar quantities, resolution of vectors into two components at right angles, addition rule for two vectors, calculations for two perpendicular vectors.
  • Mechanics: kinematics, dynamics, enegry, momentum, circular motion, oscillations.
  • Mechanical properties of matter.
  • Electric circuits: current, resistance, DC circuits, capacitance.
  • Waves: qualitative treatment o polarisation and diffraction, path difference, graphical treatment of superposition and stationary waves.
  • Matter: molecular kinetic theory, internal energy.
  • Quantum and nuclear physics: photons and particles, nuclear decay, nuclear energy.
  • Fields: force fields, B-fields, flux and electromagnetic induction.
