Below are some of the key points on subject content from the government document on the changes to AS & A Level Law that will be coming.

  • AS specifications must include:
    • The English legal system (50%)
    • Private law: law of contract or law of tort (25%)
    • Public law: criminal law or human rights law (25%)
  • A Level specifications must include:
    • The English legal system (25%)
    • Private law: law of contract or law of tort (25%)
    • Public law: criminal law or human rights law (25%)
    • One further area of private or public law that has not already been selected (25%)
  • Students must show knowledge in the following areas:
    • Nature of law: law and society, law and morality, law and justice
    • English legal system: the rule of law, law making, the legal system
    • Private law: law of contract, law of tort
    • Public law: criminal law, human rights law
