TECbooks & TEC

TECbook is unique to Education Umbrella. When you purchase a TECbook subscription you are bound by the terms set out below. TECbook is an online digital version of a book, with bespoke tools and functionality owned and provided by Education Umbrella for use by the purchaser. The content of the TECbook at purchase is that published by a third-party publisher, which is then hosted on and accessed through The Education Cloud. Once you have bought a TECbook subscription, you can create, purchase or upload images, flash cards, videos and other media to add to your TECbook, and you can share these additions with other TECbook users to whom you have loaned or assigned a copy of the TECbook. In doing this, you are bound by any copyright or legal requirements associated with the material you upload. Each TECbook subscription provides you with a time-limited licence to use a TECbook. Each licence is valid only for one copy of a TECbook. If you wish others to be able to access a TECbook, each other user will require an individual copy of the TECbook (giving them a licence). For example, you can purchase a TECbook to use as a teaching resource in the classroom, but if you wish your students to be able to use and access that TECbook, each individual student must also have a copy of the book. TECbooks are accessed by logging onto The Education Cloud, using your Education Umbrella username and password and, where a TECbook has been loaned via activation code, that activation code. TECbooks purchased directly by you, loaned directly to you, or given to you by another user, will appear in The Education Cloud automatically. Once you have bought a TECbook subscription, you can assign, loan or give the book to another person to access via The Education Cloud with their own log-in and password. You can also recall a TECbook from an individual user and re-assign it. Only one user can access an individual TECbook at any time. A TECbook is purchased on subscription for a length of time specified at the point of purchase (the “subscription period”). The subscription period for each TECbook beings counting down only when the TECbook is activated. The TECbook will be available to you for the duration of your subscription period. At the end of the subscription period, your access to the TECbook will expire. You will receive a notification from Education Umbrella when the expiry date is pending, and at this point you can choose to extend your subscription. Whenever a TECbook into which you have put notes or media expires, those notes and media will remain within your The Education Cloud account. Purchasing a new copy(s) of that exact TECbook will result in those notes or media being re-applied to the new copy. Education Umbrella reserves the right to erase all information and all data (notes & media) relating to any past TECbook subscription if unassociated with a copy of a TECbook for 12 months. When you purchase a TECbook from us, we will pass some information to the relevant publisher specific to the purchase of each TECbook. The information is: (1) the length of the TECbook subscription, (2) the product description for the TECbook, (3) the price paid to Education Umbrella for that product, and (4) the name of the school or individual making the purchase. No personal data will be passed to the TECbook publisher.

TECbooks are accessed via The Education Cloud, which is Education Umbrella's online digital platform providing access, distribution and storage for all Education Umbrella's digital resources. You can access it using the same username and password as the main Education Umbrella website.
These are our terms for our TECbooks. A TECbook is a digital book with added features. You can use a TECbook for as long as you pay the subscription. You need to buy a subscription licence for each TECbook you use.

Online digital resources

Education Umbrella promotes and sells Online Digital Resources that are hosted by a third-party publisher on that publisher's website. In promoting Online Digital Resources, Education Umbrella is acting as an agent for the third-party publisher and is providing the purchaser with the necessary information to access and use that publisher's product after purchase. To access and use an Online Digital Resource either you will need to use a redemption code provided by us after purchase, or you will need to use a username and password (chosen by you) which we will pass on securely to the third-party publisher.

When you purchase an Online Digital Resource from Education Umbrella, we will pass some information to the relevant publisher. This allows you to access the resource on that publisher's website and to receive ongoing customer support (if needed) from that publisher. The information we will pass to the relevant publisher is specific to the purchase of each Online Digital Resource product and is: (1) the length of the subscription, (2) the product description, (3) the price paid to Education Umbrella for that product, and (4) the name of the school or individual making the purchase, and (5) (where applicable) the username and password chosen by you to access that resource.

Once you have purchased an Online Digital Resource from Education Umbrella, we bear no responsibility for the relationship between you and the third-party publisher/supplier of the product. Education Umbrella is not responsible for the performance of the product on the third-party publisher's website, or for the level of customer service that publisher provides.
These are our terms for our Online Digital Resources (ODRs). Once you buy an ODR from us, you access it through the publisher's website (not ours), and the publisher is responsible to you for the content and performance of the ODR.

You can place your order via our website, by phone or fax, or by email.

Eureka loyalty scheme

Eureka is our loyalty scheme which helps you to bring your school community together and increases your school's buying power for educational resources. Eureka is free to join and easy to use. It's our way of saying 'thank you'.

How does Eureka work?
When you buy educational resources from us, we will reward your purchase with Eureka points which will go to your nominated school. Eureka points can be earned by everyone: teachers, bursars, librarians, parents and pupils. We will convert your Eureka points into £s so your school can buy more great books, our unique interactive TECbooks or digital resources through Education Umbrella. The more points earned for your school, the more your school can invest. So get your school community collecting Eureka points!

Schools - for bursars, teachers and librarians:
At Education Umbrella, we recognise your budgets change every year and are constantly under pressure. We want to form a long term partnership with you and your school. Every pound your school spends with us will earn Eureka points. At the end of each quarter your school will receive a statement showing how much the school has spent (in total and by department) and how many Eureka points have been earned as a result. It will also show how many Eureka points have been earned for the school by parents and students. We will convert all your Eureka points into an extra budget for your school to spend on our range of education resources.

Parents and students:
From 1st July 2013 every time you buy books and resources from Education Umbrella, you will be able to nominate your school to receive Eureka points from your purchase. Each quarter, we will collect up all the Eureka points earned by parents and students and these will be converted into an extra budget for your school to spend with Education Umbrella.

How many Eureka points will my purchase earn?
Each £1 spent will earn 1 Eureka point. From time to time Education Umbrella will run promotions that will allow you to earn more Eureka points for each £1 spent.

How much are Eureka points worth?
At the end of each quarter, your school's Eureka points will be converted into a budget and each Eureka point will be worth a minimum of 1p. From time to time Education Umbrella will run promotions that will boost the spending power of your points.

What can I buy with Eureka points?
Your school can spend Eureka points on any product or service available through the Education Umbrella website.

How does my school sign up to the Eureka loyalty scheme?
Your school will be contacted directly by Education Umbrella with details of how to sign up to the Eureka loyalty scheme. Signing up will allow your school to receive the spending benefits of Eureka points earned. When you make your purchase, you will be able to check that your school is signed up. If it isn't, don't worry, your school will still be collecting the Eureka points from your purchase, but your school will need to register with the scheme to be able to turn Eureka points into a spending budget. Education Umbrella reserves the right to remove any discount or loyalty bonus listed on an invoice if payment is not received within the stated payment terms.
This tells you about Eureka, our loyalty scheme. With Eureka, every time you buy something from Education Umbrella, you can earn extra buying power for your school to spend on more great educational resources.

We hope you don't need to complain to us. But if you do, please contact us at admin@educationumbrella.com
